If you are burning wood for heat, it is important to know that the EPA certified wood stoves that have been available in the last ten years have much cleaner emissions that other wood stoves. Heating with sustainably harvested wood adds very little to greenhouse gas emissions because the carbon dioxide in the wood was taken out of the atmosphere when the tree was growing and the next tree to take its place will also take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
