Help Make Kingston a Solar Leader!
The goal of the 1000 Solar Rooftops Challenge is to make Kingston the first community of its size to install 1000 solar energy systems.
The program includes a door to door educational initiative and outreach through community events. There is also an interactive map that allows you to learn more about solar installations in your neighbourhood and throughout the Kingston area.
Please see our online brochure for more information about the microFIT Program and the 1000 Solar Rooftops Challenge.
SWITCH Kingston is a non-profit group and does not sell or install solar energy systems.

Search the Database
We invite you to search through the 1000 solar rooftops database to find locations near you currently participating in our challenge. Please note that due to privacy constraints, some installs may not be displayed and Utilities Kingston installations are shown with approximate locations.
The 1000 Solar Rooftops Challenge Team spent Saturday, July 31 at the Princess Promenade.
The Promenade was a great success and the weather cooperated with a beautiful day. The SWITCH team was able to speak with many people about the benefits of a solar rooftop. We were also able to answer a lot of questions from people who are thinking about going solar.
Princess Promenade organizers are already looking ahead to another event next summer and we wish them the best of luck!

Door To Door Campaign
It was a great summer for the 1000 Solar Rooftops Challenge
On Tuesday July 13 Krystal and Haddon (pictured) began a door to door campaign in selected neighbourhoods. Over July and August, these 'Solar Ambassadors' were able to analyze 7821 rooftops and hand out 3597 brochures. They were also able to explain the benefits of a solar installation to 1036 homeowners personally.
